What is Polygon?​

  • Polygon is EVM-compatible, so it uses Ethereum-style 0x addresses and supports applications, wallets, and tokens built with Ethereum tooling.
  • Polygon PoS is a proof-of-stake blockchain connected to Ethereum, but it processes transactions on its own network rather than operating as an Ethereum rollup.
  • POL is Polygon's native asset. It pays network fees and is also used in the network's validator ecosystem.

Polygon Support in Gem Wallet​

How to Add a Polygon Token?​

You can add a supported Polygon token in either of these ways:

  • Use the search button in the upper-right corner of the main wallet screen, search for the token, and enable it.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the main wallet screen and select Manage Tokens. Search for the token manually, or tap the filter icon and set the network to Polygon, then enable the token.

Each supported Polygon ERC-20 token appears as a separate asset. Check the token name, symbol, and Polygon network before enabling, sending, receiving, or swapping it.

How to Buy or Receive POL?​

To buy POL, open the Polygon wallet and tap Buy. Gem Wallet displays available quotes from supported providers; the providers, payment methods, and quoted amount can vary by your region and the provider.

To receive POL, open the Polygon wallet, tap Receive, then copy or share the address shown. Send only POL on the Polygon network to that address. Polygon uses Ethereum-style 0x addresses, so matching the address alone does not confirm that the sender selected the correct network.

How to Send POL with Gem Wallet?​

Open POL in Gem Wallet and tap Send. Enter the recipient address manually, paste it, scan its QR code, or select one of your wallets. Enter the amount, review the recipient, Polygon network, and network fee, then confirm the transaction.

Before sending, verify that the recipient supports POL on Polygon. Sending POL or a Polygon token over a different network can result in a loss of funds.

Can I Swap Polygon Assets on Gem Wallet?​

Transaction Fees on Polygon​

How to Check Polygon Transactions?​

Gem Wallet displays your Polygon balances and transaction history. To inspect an address or transaction on the blockchain explorer, open the Polygon wallet menu and select View address on PolygonScan when available.
